Many of us have discovered during our medical transitions that the most challenging aspects are often not the ones we initially anticipate. For me, removing facial hair proved to be a far more painful, tedious, and difficult procedure than undergoing four surgeries. However, the aspect that causes me the greatest dysphoria is my voice, a very common issue among trans individuals of all genders. Vocal dysphoria tends to be persistent and is often more difficult to overcome than visual-based dysphorias. I know that many of you struggle with this painful inability to express your true selves with your voice.

Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I introduce Eddy, Imago's new vocal coach and a kind, lovely trans person. This service is available exclusively to our subscribers, and there is no initial fee required to become a subscriber. Each session is priced at €50. To book a session, please email us.

As is now our custom, Eddy will introduce himself to you:

Hello, my name is Eddy Grignon (He/They)

I'm a vocal dysphoria coach with over 12 years’ experience teaching people how to find their voice. I'm passionate about harm reduction, trauma informed instruction, and meeting the access needs of Disabled, Neurodivergent, ADHDer, and Autistic people like me.

I attended the University of Western Ontario and then Wilfrid Laurier University for classical voice, working towards an Opera career. After a lifetime as a soprano, I made the best decision of my life and started HRT. Now, I'm a Baritone with high notes, and I have an ever developing set of tools to share with my community.

As your vocal coach, I will create personalized lesson plans that will build confidence, strength, and encourage you to reclaim your autonomy. There’s no right way or wrong way to be trans. My goal is to help my clients build a working relationship with their voice by understanding how it works and why. You will learn about vocal anatomy, vocal health and hygiene, how to use techniques like SOVT, body mapping, pitch, resonance and breath control. If you like to sing, or if you would like to learn, we will explore singing techniques from the genre(s) of your choice.

I believe that vocal coaching needs to be a collaborative process. I’ve worked with transmasculine, transfeminine, androgynous, nonbinary, and gender variant folks all with their own unique goal. I’m here to listen and support you. We will work together to develop a vocabulary that describes your unique experiences and develop the tools you need to move towards gender euphoria.

I speak English and French. Bring a glass of water, or some soothing tea. My sessions are 45 minutes long.

I can’t wait to work with you,
Edmund Grignon
