A lifebelt floating on the water.

I promised a mental health support from July. Instead, we start tomorrow. You will be able to book sessions with our counselor Amanda (she/her) on Mondays and Fridays, 8:30-16:00 CEST. Currently, the service will be available to our subscribers only (no need to pay the initial fee to become a subscriber) at the cost of €60/h. A session typically lasts between 0h45 and 1h. In order to book sessions, please email us.

Instead of a more traditional introduction, I am very pleased to publish the message Amanda herself wrote to you:

Hi!

My name is Amanda.

I am a mental health counselor with experience working with people in emergency life crises, neurodivergence along the ADHD and autistic spectrums, as well as mental health conditions. My experience covers anything between round the clock psychiatric care to working in an outpatient clinic to supporting volunteers during PRIDE events. As someone with trans experience myself as well as a visual disability, I know the importance of being respected, of how vulnerable it is to open up to someone in a more privileged position, and how messy the process of “finding out” and transition can be amidst discrimination, dysphoria, trauma, harassment, social pressure and isolation. However, I also know the joy and euphoria of finally becoming your true self.

Nothing is too small or unimportant if you feel it is impacting your wellbeing. To me, the most important part of counseling is establishing a dialogue on the terms of the person I am trying to help. Which is why I ask questions, actively listen and reflect on what you say, in order to let you take your time to find the right answer. As a counselor, I can support you towards achieving greater stability in your life and give you introductory tools to help manage your mental health.

I have seen a wide range of mental health situations; from suicidal thoughts and self harm to addiction, trauma, managing sleep and everyday strategies to handle life when you are feeling overwhelmed. I can also be someone to talk to who “gets it”. While counseling, I do not give active therapy treatments like a psychologist. My sessions aim to stabilize your mental health, in order to enable you to seek deeper, lasting treatment. Think of me as an emotional paramedic whose job is to make you ok enough to receive specialist treatment. I use tools from both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy as best fits your situation. We can also look into possible referrals if need be.

(...) I'm fluent in Swedish and English. Please choose a time to be in a safe space. My sessions are around 45 minutes to an hour.

I hope to talk with you soon!
